BCAC leads and participates in several committees working to bring awareness and advice on agricultural issues.

Agriculture Environment Initiatives Committee
The Agriculture Environment Programs Committee manages the delivery of the Agriculture Environment and Wildlife Fund (AEWF) and functions as the industry advisory committee for the Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) Program.

BC Farm Animal Care Council

The BC Farm Animal Care Council (BCFACC) fosters communication between producers, works to proactively address challenges in animal agriculture, and communicates with the public on the sound, science-based and humane animal care practices farmers and ranchers implement in BC. The BCFACC consists of producers helping producers to continue bringing a high level of care to BC farm animals.

BC Young Farmers

The BC Young Farmers (BCYF) is a committee of the BCAC that provides opportunities for networking and professional development. BCYF enables young farmers aged 19-40 to connect with agriculture and agri-food professionals throughout the value chain, including business management seminars and important resources that encompass tax and succession planning, access to R&D funding programs, and marketing.

Climate Action Advisory Committee

The Climate Action Advisory Committee was formed jointly with the BCAC and Investment Agriculture Foundation of BC to establish the Climate Action Initiative which enables a pan-agriculture approach to identifying and analyzing the impacts of climate change and climate action public policy on the agriculture and food processing sectors. The Advisory Committee guides the efforts taken to raise awareness about potential impacts on agriculture, assists to meet the challenges, and develops renewable energy opportunities.

The Finance Committee is responsible for overseeing the integrity of the BCAC financial statements and internal audit process, and compliance to legal and regulatory requirements. The Committee advises the BCAC Board of Directors and provides recommendations that ensure that its operations and financial risk management controls are established and implemented.

The Labour Committee oversees the policies and issues related to human resources and skills development in the BC agriculture sector.

Wild Predator Loss Prevention Committee

The Wild Predator Loss Prevention Committee oversees projects that address the socio-economic impacts of wild predators on the cattle and sheep industries in BC. Recommendations on prevention, investigation, and mitigation strategies are developed and implemented.

Agriculture Environment Partnership Committee

The Agriculture Environment Partnership Committee is a joint committee between BCAC and the BC Ministry of Agriculture and provides a forum for consultation between the agriculture sector and government agencies with the intent to find and promote workable solutions, and to provide options and recommendations with respect to environmental issues affecting the agriculture industry.

Growing Forward Advisory Committee

Growing Forward is a federal-provincial-territorial initiative committed to Canada’s agriculture sector. The Growing Forward Advisory Committee ensures that Growing Forward programs are operating effectively and achieving three strategic objectives: sector competitiveness and innovation; contribution to society’s health and environmental priorities; and proactive business risk management.

Provincial Risk Management Advisory Committee

The Provincial Risk Management Advisory Committee is a joint committee between BCAC and the BC Ministry of Agriculture that advises and provides direction to the BC Ministry of Agriculture (AGRI) on the safety net program policy. The BCAC recommends the representation to the National Advisory Committees (Safety Nets and the Canadian Agricultural Income Stabilization Program) from the Provincial Risk Management Advisory Committee, the appointments of which require approval by the federal Minister of Agriculture.
